Nice to see someone mentioning editing. Too many pages look like the person was in such a hurry to put them up that they didn't bother reading through them. Jarring. And not a confidence builder.

Boom. Right on target. You have to provide that direction toward action. Tell them what to do and how to do it (without being a jerk, of course). Far too many people go soft when it comes time to ask for the money. That's a mistake.

Glad you mentioned that you should study what works, not what you personally like. So many writers seem to have swipe files that revolve around their personal preferences and predilections instead of actual successes.

"Jack of all trades.. but master of none"... so ofcourse specialising in some field will help you a lot... firstly you can improve or develop the field... secondly you can know more and do something new about it... say you are a mechanic.. you know to repair cars, scooters, motor-cycles etc.. but if you concentrate on any one of them.. you can learn more and help in a much better way... so you wont be losing anything here... you will be an expert at something and good at all others...

I agree with Ibu guru. It's hard for me to fathom how you could not have a prior agreement in place. Presumably, the material and content is owned by the business (you did form a business, yes?), of which you are a co-owner. The Operating Agreement (or whatever agreement is in place) should spell out ownership and royalty rights. If it doesn't or if you never bothered to formulate one, you have to come to an amicable agreement with your (ex) partner. He too will benefit from working this thing out amicably, since you could force a liquidation of the company and he could be SOL. It's hard to detail the steps you should take, since we can't guage what protections and guarantees are already in place. Assuming there are none, you are going to have to think about what you're willing to give up and at what cost. A standard negotiating tactic is to ask for more than you are willing to accept so you eventually get what you wanted in the first place. While that may seem like common sense, I figured I'd throw it in there. Good luck.

You should have had a proper partnership agreement from the start which divided up duties, arranged for a future parting of the ways, buyouts, royalties on creative work, etc. Too late for a proper written agreement like that now.

Instead you are going to have negotiate rights, royalties, company valuation, etc, now when you two want to be quit of each other. Not a healthy negotiating environment! But you have to come up with a written agreement you will both abide by. See your lawyer and work it out.

There is what is called "asset finding" - locating people (and businesses) who are listed in public records as "claimants" of "abandoned/unclaimed property".

A large percentage of the states in the USA permit individuals to solicit claimants where in you can charge a percentage of the net amount the claimant receives (usually 10% to 15%).

A listing of the state web sites can be found at

Some states do require either licensing and/or registrating, but only a handful require a "bond".

It is really easy to locate these claimants using FREE online tools including those at sites like:

In-fact many of the claimants actually live/work at the listed addresses in the public records.

Good Luck.
